As I was flipping through the channels and to my misfortune I happened to stop on TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras. I was disgusted by the awful parenting. I can't imagine dressing my 6 year old girl in a revealing outfit, gaudy makeup, making taking her youth by making her look and act older. I didn't start wearing make up until the summer before I started high school. After not winning one of the mothers said to the camera "we can't change her facial beauty, so there's nothing we can do about it". Beauty pageants are making these young girls believe that they are not beautiful unless they win and winning means wearing makeup. These young girls may have soft and beautiful hair...now. With all that curling, straightening, and hair spray by the time they are 20 they wont. In my opinion the girls in these pageants look trashy and almost creepy at times, they are much more beautiful when they are makeup free and natural hair. Yes, I wear makeup but I don't wear so much that I'm unrecognizable without it. Natural beauty is much more beautiful then beauty achieved from hours of prep. Not to mention they wear fake teeth...
Behind the pounds of makeup and excessive hair spray is the bad parenting. Playing dress up with your child for money, makes me sick. It's degrading for the child and selfish on the parents part. Pageant parents make their children do things that adult women do and some times brings them to tears.
I feel bad for these children who are being striped of a normal childhood to play dress up for money and prizes. And for those who don't win, low self esteem.
Bottom like this show is wrong.

Warning: not for the faint of heart.
